Luther City Wittenberg

Luther City Wittenberg, as the center of the High German written language through Luther's translation of the New and Old Testament into German, is rich in contemporary witnesses.

Like pearls strung together you will find the Luther House, today the largest museum of the history of the Reformation in the world, the home of Philipp Melanchthon, the "teacher of Germany", the University of Leucorea with with headquarter of the Institute for German Language and Culture e. V., the town church with the famous Reformation altar, the grounds of the court painter Lucas Cranach, with the numerous artists' studios and the historic printing workshop, and the castle church with the world-famous thesis door and the graves of Martin Luther and Philipp Melanchthon.
